Pumpkin Trains – Riverside, San Diego and Orange County

Pumpkin season is almost here! And I can’t wait to share all the great fall events that come along with it. My little guy is a big fan of trains and after my recent post about Day Out with Thomas, I had to find some fun Pumpkin Trains that are pulling into the station this fall.

Riverside County

Orange Empire Railway Museum

The Pumpkin Train stops into the Orange Empire Railway Museum the weekends of October 17th and 24th.
Featuring trolley rides to the pumpkin patch. Pick out and decorate your pumpkins right there. Also climb aboard the Spooky Caboose, take part in the costume contest, or jump around in the bouncing houses. Trains and trolleys run from 10am to 4pm. Tickets are required for this event.

Pacific Southwest Railway Museum

The 11th Annual Pumpkin Express Halloween Celebration is coming back to the Pacific Southwest Railway Museum this October. Take an hour-long ride in decorated vintage rail cars through San Diego’s mountains. Keep an eye out for the Grim Reaper who may have stowed away aboard the train. Once at the pumpkin patch, pick out and decorate a pumpkin right there. Also explore two haunted trains and be on the look out for ghosts and ghouls roaming about. Trains depart from the depot at 10:00am, 12:15pm and 2:30pm on Pumpkin Express Celebration days. Advance registration is required and pumpkins are included with ticket purchase for each toddler and child.

Irvine Park Railroad

The Irvine Regional Parks 10th Annual Pumpkin Patch fun kicks off this Saturday September 19th. Ride the parks mini train that is all decorated for the season. The pumpkin patch will be open daily until October 31st. Entrance to the pumpkin patch is free but tickets are required for all activities. There is a parking fee to enter Irvine Regional Park; Weekdays $3, Weekends $5 and Holidays $7. Irvine Park is home to the OC Zoo, bike and paddle boat rentals, walking trails and playgrounds. During the Pumpkin Patch the Park also offers pumpkin train rides, face painting, cookie decorating, hay rides, bounce houses, a haunted house, and much more.
