Colossal Themed Mini Build This Saturday!
Make sure to stop by your local Toys’R’Us location this Saturday June 20th for a very prehistoric Lego® build. The free mini build is from 12-2pm, but only while supplies last. It is best to arrive early to these builds as a line does form quickly and quantities are limited. Children will be build and take their very own Jurassic World Gate.
Let your little Dinos go wild!
If my family has no real plans for the weekend but just needs to get out of the house we will go out for a drive. No real direction or destination. Just to get out and do a little exploring. Usually we find a nice place to go walk around or a new park for the kids to play at. On our most recent family drive we ended up stoping at Jurassic Forest located at Vail Lake nearby our home. This is a fun little pit stop off of Highway 79 and if you happen to be heading down this stretch of road stop in and check it out for yourself. It is FREE to enter and view and many of the pieces are available for purchase.
When you enter Vail Lake Resort you will inform the attendant at the entrance that you are there to see Jurassic Forest. You will be given a parking marker for your car and will head just a short drive in to the sculptures.
Many of the sculptures are all displayed in the main area but there is a nice little path to walk down that has dinosaurs hidden throughout it.
Not only was the artists studio open during our visit but the artist himself was there. He was very nice and it was great to put a face to the work. The sculptures are so very detailed and I would of loved to have purchased one if I had the space for it. You can also view these sculptures in Old Town Temecula. They are on display right next to Pennypickle’s Workshop.
If you happen to be cruising through the area, this is a fun little pit stop!

Anyone else have kiddos who love dinosaurs?! Well I was looking up places with nature centers and other small museums and stumbled upon the Jurupa Mountains Discovery Center. This place looks perfect for my little adventurers! The Jurupa Mountain Discovery Center combines nature with exploration and learning and is FREE to visit. Explore Dinosaur Mesa to see some amazing Dinosaurs and see all the beautiful and unique plants at the nursery (many of which are available for purchase). The Center also has a great little museum and special activity days.

On Saturdays you are invited to go on a rock and mineral collecting expedition ($8 per person, children 2 years and under are free). Participants learn about how rocks and fossils are formed. As you hike through Dinosaur Mesa to the Quarry learn about about these amazing prehistoric creatures on display. Once at the Quarry you will be able to collect your own rock and mineral specimens to take home. The expedition sets off every Saturday at 9am, 12pm and 2pm. There is no obligation to participate in the Rock and Mineral Collecting when visiting the Discovery Center; the Nursery, museum and Dinosaur Mesa are all FREE to explore.
Earth Science Museum
The Jurupa Mountain Discovery Center also features a great little Earth Science Museum (the Ruth and Sam Kirkby Earth Science Museum) which is home to a large collection of Dinosaur Eggs that were found in China. The museum also features artifacts that were discovered here in the Inland Empire. Though the museum is small it has many exhibits to check out. Some of the exhibits are Rocks and Minerals, Fossils, Native American Artifacts, Petrified Wood, and Mining just to name a few. The Museum like the rest of the Center is FREE to visit but donations are greatly appreciated.
I can’t wait to take my little family on an adventure here soon!
