Cars 3 First Look and Trailer

All images courtesy of Disney•Pixar

During the last D23 Expo in 2015 Disney made many announcements for upcoming Resort and film projects. (You can see a recap of the announcements from that D23 Expo here) Amoung that announcement was that a third film in Pixars Cars series.

Cars 3 brings back racing legend Lightening McQueen who is now facing a new, younger, and more high-tech racing scene. He is no longer the young hotshot and is seeing himself as being aged out in a sport that he loves.

Owen Wilson is back as McQueen along with two new comers to the Cars world; Armie Hammer as Jackson Storm and Cristela Alonzo as Cruz Ramirez. Hammer’s character Storm comes in as newer generation of racer, slicker, faster and much more tech-savvy. While Alonzo’s Cruz Ramirez is McQueen’s new trainer who is here to help bring hope to the aging legend.

Cars 3 seems to be taking the series in a vastly new direction than the previous film Cars 2 which centered more on McQueen’s longtime friend Mater. While Cars 2 was fun and enjoyable and my son who is a big Mater fan loved it, it is great to see the growth and more serious tone in the new film. It reminds me of the Toy Story series, how they seemed to grow with their initial audience as the last film in the series felt like a send off for those of us who had seen the original in our youth. That is the same vibe I am getting from these first trailers for Cars 3. And of course my kids are very excited about this new film!

Here is the first teaser of Cars 3 from this last November

And below is the first full trailer of the film which gives a much more detailed look into it.

Cars 3 will be racing into theaters June 16th! Don’t be last to see it.

Each Amusement Park has their own unique take on this spooky fun season. So here is what is going on at many Southern California based Amusement Parks.

Disneyland

Disneyland transforms much of the park for each holiday season and Halloween time is no exception. There is holiday decor through out the park and limited time themed treats and merchandise. The Haunted Mansion and Space Mountain also take on the Halloween fun. The Haunted Mansion has been taken over by Jack Skellington and his friends much like the movie The Nightmare Before Christmas. While Space Mountain takes you on an out of this world ghostly experience. And on select nights you can party and trick-or-treat with Mickey and his Friends during Mickey’s Halloween Party. Knott’s Berry Farm

Trick or Treat throughout Ghost Town or join the costume contest and dance party in Camp Snoopy. Bug out with slimy, slithery, crawlerly creatures at the Creepy Crawler Cabin. Or check out the whole Gang in “The Monsters are Coming, Charlie Brown” at the Camp Snoopy Theatre. All this spooky fun is included with general admission.

Legoland

Vampires, Witches and other ghouls have taken over the park! The park is decorated for the holiday and there are special trick-or-treat trails when you join the fun of Party Nights. On Friday and Saturday nights join in on a bricktastic Halloween party during Legoland’s Brick-or-Treat. Enjoy live entertainment, special treat stations, costume contests, dancing and more. The party has expanded this year to Heartlake City and Fun Town. There are still stations throughout SEA LIFE Aquarium as well as Wanda’s Jelly Fish Disco where you can jump and jive the night away. There are two ticket options; choose from All Day with Party Nights or Party Nights only (which is perfect for those looking for family fun on a budget). Brick-or-Treat is a great Halloween time event for the whole family.

Sea World

Sea World’s Halloween Spooktacular is going on every weekend until November 1st. Kids can come dressed up and trick or treat throughout the park. Trick or treating starts at 11am on event days. And there has been so much talk and speculation lately about Disney parks expansions that D23 Expo was just the place for big news reveals. Here is some of the big details that has been released at D23.

Pixar and Disney Animation have announced a full slat of upcoming projects and have given more details on many known films that are coming soon. So here are the details straight from D23.

The Good Dinosaur

Finding Dory and Toy Story 4

Disney•Pixars Finding Dory

As announced by Ellen DeGeneres on her show “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” everyone’s favorite forgetful fish is coming back to the big screen. Finding Dory will bring back Dory and her friends Marlin and Nemo to help her search for answers about her past and where she comes from. The new journey will bring in an array of new characters such as Hank the octopus voiced by Ed O’Neill; Bailey a beluga whale by Ty Burrell; and Destiny a kind-hearted whale shark voiced by Kaitlin Olsen. The film will take place six months after where the first film ended with Dory remembering her family and sets out to find them. Dory and the gang swim into theaters June 17, 2016.

Toy Story 4 plot line was also just announced at D23. This year marks the 20th Anniversary release of the original Toy Story film. The film was such a success that it garnered two sequels which were also greatly received. Now the gang will be back for the fourth installment of the franchise. This time it will be more of a love story focusing on the relationship between Woody and Bo Peep. Woody and Buzz will be setting out to find Bo. Toy Story 4 is slated to hit theaters June 16, 2017.

Coco

This was one of the bigger announcements from Disney•Pixar films. Coco is a previously untitled film about the Mexican celebration of Dia De Los Muertos that now has an official title and story line. This first look during D23 was a diorama shown by director Lee Unkrich and producer Darla Anderson. It was just glimpse of the style and tone of the upcoming film. Not much else plot wise was given at this time and the release date is still unknown.

Disneyland’s 60th Anniversary

Disneyland's 60th Anniversary Celebration

Happy Birthday Disneyland!

Today 60 years ago Disneyland opened it’s Castle gates for the very first time. July 17th, 1955 started it all for amusement parks around the world. Walt Disney’s dream was brought to life, as a place for people of all ages to come and experience a little magic. It paved the way for more parks to be formed but none can quite match the magic that is Disneyland.

Since its Disney’s 60th Anniversary it means it’s time for diamonds. So the park, Downtown Disney and California Adventure have been decorated in honor of the Celebration and everywhere a diamond can be found from food to merchandise. I mean it wouldn’t be a Diamond Celebration without some bling. Sleeping Beauty’s Castle is draped in them and that makes it the perfect backdrop for a photo op. There are so many Diamond themed treats to enjoy it’ll be hard to just pick one. Along with the treats there is for a limited time speciality popcorn buckets and souvenir cups. Stop in any gift shop to find exclusive Celebration memorabilia from Diamond ears to trading pins.
