Temecula Mall Free Kids Events

Posted in Summer Fun!

image

I was finally able today to check out the free kids event that my mall offers on Wednesdays this summer. The Temecula Promenade Mall offers a Kids Club that features a free craft or activity every Wednesday from 11am to 1pm. The Kids Club is going on now until August 6th. The events are completely free but do arrive early to insure your spot as space/items are limited. Most of the events are held near the children’s play area unless specified otherwise. My kids had a great time today so we will for sure be going to the next ones.

Rolling and shaping their own pretzel's.

Rolling and shaping their own pretzel’s.

Today’s event was chef-for-a-day! The kids were giving a chef’s hat to decorate and make their own. Then they were given some pretzel dough to make into their own pretzels that you take home to bake. They were shown how to roll, twist and shape the dough to make their own pretzels. My son has severe food allergies so he was provided gloves while I was able to stay right next to him. He was able to enjoy the event and help shape a pretzel, which we will bake and let his sister eat later. My daughter ended up making hers in the shape of a heart. All the dough for this event was provided by Wetzel Pretzel’s and an employee was demonstrating how to make the pretzel shape. I arrived a little later for this event and we waited in quite a long line. So for next weeks event I am going to make sure we are nice and early.

Bricks 4 Kidz mobile play

I hope everyone had a great weekend. My family had a nice 4th of July and weekend nothing to extravagant but just what we needed. I spent the whole weekend just enjoying time with them so there was no blogging but now it is time to get back to finding awesome deals and events ;) So let’s get down to it.

Last week I took my kids to one of Regal’s $1 movie deals. We saw one of their current favorites the Lego Movie. After the movie was over we headed to the lobby where a couple of tables were set up and kids were crowding around them. It was our local Bricks 4 Kidz who were there promoting their summer camps with a free play event. On the tables were flyers all about their camps and a few free activities for kids. They had also brought two play mats covered with Legos and Duplo’s for babies and toddlers. My little Master Builders had a great time building and playing. Plus it was nice for them to burn off some energy after sitting through a movie. Best part is this event was free for all moviegoers. There will be some more of these mobile play events in July and August.

The next mobile play event will be this Wednesday July 9th. The event runs from 11am to 1pm. And like I stated above this is free for all moviegoers. A bonus is these events are set up to coincide with the $1 movies! It is such a great deal if you can’t do the Bricks 4 Kidz Summer Camps. Another great option is the Summer Fun Nights, these are one night of fun Lego activities almost like a condensed camp. Legos are such a great tool for learning for kids and Bricks 4 Kidz is such a wonderful opportunity to get your child interested and involved in STEM.

The next movie theater play dates are:

    • Wednesday July 9th 11am-1pm
    • Wednesday July 16th 11am-1pm
    • Tuesday July 29th 11am-1pm
    • Wednesday August 6th 11am-1pm

I have provided links above to the Temecula Bricks 4 Kidz events and camps. To find your local camps and events click here. Keep checking back to my blog for other great budget friendly events.

Apple Store Camp

Apple Stores Camp registration is open and it is filling up fast. This is a great free three day camp that is being offered in Apple Stores across the county. There are two workshops being offered for six weeks with the workshops alternating each week. The workshops are geared toward children ages 8-12. It’s a great way for your child to learn computer skills and show off their work during the Camp Showcase. They will learn to make movies or interactive books with their own illustrations and sound effects. Anything that combines learning with fun is what I seek out for my kids. The first week of camp starts on July 14th. Here is the link to find a store nearest to you.

Keep learning fun this summer!

Lowe’s Build and Grow Turbo Racer

Posted in Summer Fun!

image

Registration is up right now for the next Lowe’s Build and Grow event. Like all these events the registration fills up very quickly. The next build is Turbo with a pullback motor, seriously can’t wait for this build we haven’t done a build like it yet. My son is all about race cars and loves the movie Turbo so he is going to be so excited. The build is on Saturday July 12th at 10am. Always arrive early to insure your spot. You can click here to register for this build at a location nearest you.

image

Lowe’s Build and Grow events are such a great way to get children interested in STEM learning. Your child has to carefully read instructions and work with tools, using their fine motor skills. And mistakes can easily be made during these builds so it’s a great chance for children to learn problem solving skills. My kids have so much fun participating in these builds and are always so full of pride with their finished products. Of course I love that it is learning and fun for them. So sign up quick!

Happy Building!

VBS! (review and update)

A Quick Review

My daughter just completed her first VBS of the summer and there’s no denying she had a blast. She even asked me why they can’t last all summer long. I told her not to worry I will sign her up for some more and that we will do that program again next year. This was our second year with this program and like I told my daughter we are definitely looking forward to participating again. The bible school I am referring to was run by Reliance Church here in Temecula and was held at Linfield Christian School from June 16 to June 20th. I have to just give a big thanks to all the volunteers and organizers who made this event possible and for running it so smoothly. My daughter attended the event everyday from 8am to 12pm and I can honestly say I felt so comfortable dropping her off there everyday and the check in and out processes were great. They truly made sure your child was in a safe secure environment but was still having plenty of fun and connecting with God.

First day at VBS

First day at VBS

The first day of vacation bible school is check in. There are tents set up where you check your child in by last name. When you check in your child you receive a print up schedule of the week with the devotions for each day, the dress up themes for certain days, information about the church, and a snack schedule (this year the snacks were nut free to accommodate those with allergies). Also at this time is when you receive all your wrist bands: a color coded event band, parent and child numbered band for drop off and pick, and an allergy band (only for the children with allergies, i.e. to medications or nuts). After receiving all this you are directed to the next tent where your child is given a shirt to wear throughout the week. Orange was for children in kindergarten to second grade and blue was for third grade to fifth grade. With how many children who attend this vacation bible school you would think that the first day is going to be a mad house. That is not the case the volunteers were so organized and helpful they made the process so simple.

The daily schedule of events.

The daily schedule of events.

When you sign your child up for this program you choose an activity or elective for your child to participate in. This year we chose gymnastics as my daughters activity. She loved gymnastics, we love to pick something that she has not already done to give her a new experience. Plus if it turns out to be something that really interests her, we try to see about continuing the activity after VBS has ended.  There are so many great activities offered its sometimes hard to choose just one. To name a few there is: soccer, baseball, gymnastics, hip hop dance, tea party, cheer, and football. Also many of the activities are taught by local studios and some even offer a discount to join their studio after VBS. Being in these smaller activity groups also helps to make daily learning of the scripture more one on one and interactive.

VBS themed days, Crazy Sock day, Crazy Hair day (a little mellow so it didn't interfere with gymnastics), Neon day, and Water Play day!

VBS themed days, Crazy Sock day, Crazy Hair day (a little mellow so it didn’t interfere with gymnastics), Neon day, and Water Play day!

The final day of VBS was very bitter sweet. My daughter had come home everyday excited to tell me everything she had learned. She wanted to show me some of her gymnastics skills and talk with me about the message of the day. So when Friday approached she was not ready for it to end but was so excited for the final day extravaganza. The last day of VBS is water day, and its not just regular ole’ water play with hoses and squirt guns, nope Reliance goes all out and has inflatable water slides! There is still hoses and buckets and plenty of field water play but the inflatables are a big attraction.

This was just such a great program for kids, they really made learning fun. Again I just want to say a big thank you to Reliance for this amazing experience!
