Disney Stores Summer Play Days is still going on until September 1st. These daily events that are happening in the store such as learning to draw your favorite characters, becoming an honorary Avenger, listening to your favorite Disney story, or test your Disney knowledge with a fun trivia game. By attending one of these events your child will receive a special Summer Play Days button. Each week is a new button to collect and right now the featured button is Anna with Olaf from Frozen! image

Try to go to Trivia event days when a bonus pin is giving out pertaining to the Trivia theme. Both my kids have been having so much fun. Everyday has a different event planned so it’s nice to pick and chose which to attend.

Showtime days seem to be very popular. We just attended one which was completely full. It was a Showtime featuring everyone’s favorite toy doctor Doc McStuffins. The kids helped Doc fix up her friends and learned a dance about washing your hands. All the children who attended revived their very own magic stethoscope just like Docs(well a cutout version but still very fun).

The Anna and Olaf button is available until Sunday while supplies last. There are still some very cool buttons coming up for the final weeks of Summer Play Days. Collect them while you can and keep checking out the Disney Stores free events.

Temecula Hot Summer Nights

Posted in Summer Fun!

image

Tomorrow night, Friday July 11th, is the start of Temecula’s Hot Summer Nights in Old Town Temecula. This is a free event geared towards families. There will be party jumps, games, entertainment, and trivia contests. And of course music! Each week will feature a different music genre, such as: Blues, Ska, Country, Classic Rock (Tribute Bands), Beach, Reggae, Alternative Rock, and Big Band just to name a few. Bands will be performing throughout Old Town on patios, in parking lots or on special stages. Hot Summer Nights is every Friday night from 6 to 10pm, and is going on from July 11th until August 29th.

One of my family’s favorite pastimes is to just walk around Old Town. It is such a nice relaxing atmosphere in Old Town, all the restaurants aromas are so enticing and the shops are all so unique. Our favorite thing to do is get a cold drink from the Old Town Rootbeer Company and walk listening to all the great music. Or on nights when the kids are restless we take a nice drive through with the windows down taking it all in. This year we are excited to check out all the activities for the kids.

Friday’s Line Up-July 11th

    • 6pm-Luciano at East Main Street
    • 6pm– Wow Bubbles at Pub & Grub Lot
    • 6:30pm– Tomcats at Third Street Smokehouse
    • 7pm– Kanan Road at Baily’s Courtyard

See every Friday’s line up by clicking here on temeculaevents.org

I will be researching free summer concerts in other areas so keep a look out for more summer concert posts ;)

Temecula Mall Free Kids Events

Posted in Summer Fun!

image

I was finally able today to check out the free kids event that my mall offers on Wednesdays this summer. The Temecula Promenade Mall offers a Kids Club that features a free craft or activity every Wednesday from 11am to 1pm. The Kids Club is going on now until August 6th. The events are completely free but do arrive early to insure your spot as space/items are limited. Most of the events are held near the children’s play area unless specified otherwise. My kids had a great time today so we will for sure be going to the next ones.

Rolling and shaping their own pretzel's.

Rolling and shaping their own pretzel’s.

Today’s event was chef-for-a-day! The kids were giving a chef’s hat to decorate and make their own. Then they were given some pretzel dough to make into their own pretzels that you take home to bake. They were shown how to roll, twist and shape the dough to make their own pretzels. My son has severe food allergies so he was provided gloves while I was able to stay right next to him. He was able to enjoy the event and help shape a pretzel, which we will bake and let his sister eat later. My daughter ended up making hers in the shape of a heart. All the dough for this event was provided by Wetzel Pretzel’s and an employee was demonstrating how to make the pretzel shape. I arrived a little later for this event and we waited in quite a long line. So for next weeks event I am going to make sure we are nice and early.

Apple Stores Camp registration is open and it is filling up fast. This is a great free three day camp that is being offered in Apple Stores across the county. There are two workshops being offered for six weeks with the workshops alternating each week. The workshops are geared toward children ages 8-12. It’s a great way for your child to learn computer skills and show off their work during the Camp Showcase. They will learn to make movies or interactive books with their own illustrations and sound effects. Anything that combines learning with fun is what I seek out for my kids. The first week of camp starts on July 14th. Here is the link to find a store nearest to you.

A great way for kids to not fall behind over summer break is to take part in a summer reading program. So many places are offering their own programs with great rewards. For quite a few summers now my children have participated in our library’s summer reading. They love checking in weekly and collecting little prizes and spinning the wheel to win some great coupons for free food at local eateries. Be sure to also check out the story time events as well, it’s always fun to relax and listen to a story. I’ll keep an eye out for more reading programs but here are some to get started with.

June Junior Chef Classes

The Williams-Sonoma Junior Chef Class schedule is now up for June. Be sure to stop by or call your local store to register for these great classes. My daughter recently attended the class on how to make a stuffed mini hamburger. She had such a great time that we have already signed her up for a few more classes. The staff was great at having everything preped and made sure that all the kids were taught good food handling, like washing their hands properly after handling raw meat. Also as a bonus to taking these classes is that if you decide to purchase the materials used they offer you a 10% discount. The June classes have such great summer themes so the treats that are going to be made are sure to be a hit! Just a reminder most of these classes are geared toward children ages 5 and up, some specify if there is a different age requirement.

Have great time cooking!
