Since this month seems to have so many fun events happening on the weekends I decided to put this weekends events all in one post ;)
San Diego County
Balboa Park Halloween Family Day
Sunday October 26th is Halloween Family Day at Balboa Park. Many Museums and even the Zoo will be participating in this fun event. There will be creepy crafts, spooky storytelling, costume contests and parades, mini-carnival games and much more. Check out the Air and Space Museum’s annual rooftop pumpkin drop. Old Town’s Fall Festival
Head down to San Diego’s historic Old Town this Saturday October 25th for a fun Fall Festival. Come down from 12pm to 4pm and check out the kids crafts and activities. Many merchants will also have special activities going on. It’s also just a great chance to explore Old Town if you have never gone before. Old Town is not only filled with quant shops but also much history. The famous Whaley House is open for ghostly tours for anyone who is brave enough. There are many FREE historic buildings and houses to visit as well.
Point Loma Nazarene University Fall Festival
PLNU is hosting their annual Fall Festival this Saturday October 25th from 10am to 2:30pm. This is a FREE fun family event featuring crafts and activities for kids, pumpkin patch, petting zoo, face painting, carriage rides and much more. Don’t miss out on the live “Cinderella” show presented by the Point Loma Opera Theatre. The event will close with an Ice Cream Social and prize drawings.
Sea World’s Halloween Spooktacular
Not only is Sea World offering kids 9 and under FREE entrance with paid adult the whole month of October, there is also their Halloween Spooktacular going on. Halloween Spooktacular is going on every weekend until the end of October and is FREE with entrance. There is photo ops with wacky characters, silly spooky fun shows, and kids can come in their costumes to trick-or-treat throughout the park. Don’t forget to check out all the Kids Free deals being offered at Sea World as a part of Kidvasion.
San Diego Zoo Beast Treats and More
All October long the San Diego Zoo and Safari Park (located in Escondido) are offering kids ages 11 and under FREE admission. There is also some fun Halloween inspired fun going on at the Zoo every weekend this month. Guests are encouraged to look for special “Beast Treats” signs throughout the park to see some very special treats given to enrich the animals. Be sure to check out Dr. Zoolittle’s Gross, Icky, Yucky Bug Show Saturdays and Sundays at 12:30pm and 1:30pm. Or if you’re really brave why not spend the night amongst creepy critters with the Zoo’s Spooky Sleepover. The last Spooky Sleepover is only on October 25th, taking place from 4:00pm until 9:00am the cost is $139 per person. Kids Free to the Zoo is apart of Kidvasion happening all over San Diego this October.
Balboa Park Kids Free
Museums all over San Diego are participating in Kids Free this October as a part of Kidvasion. Many of those Museums are located right in Balboa Park. Not only are kids free but there are also some great Halloween type themes going on throughout the museums going on for a limited time. Frighteningly-Fun happening every weekend in October at Belmont Park. This is great Halloween fun for the whole family as Belmont Park has been transformed into Boomont Park.
The Pumpkin Express is leaving the Station this weekend at The Pacific Southwest Railway Museum in Campo. The Great Pumpkin is waiting to take you his pumpkin patch. Train fares range from $5-$15. Your ticket includes an hour long ride on the train, a tour of the Haunted Train, and each child gets to pick out their own pumpkin to decorate. There are three train departures a day, Pumpkin Express remaining dates are October 25th and 26th. Be sure to make your reservations ahead of time as departure times do tend to sell out.
San Diego North County
Brick-or-Treat at Legoland
This is the last weekend to attend Legoland’s Brick-or-Treat with it’s Party Nights. My family had a great time at this event and you can read a full review with tips on how to make have a blast by clicking here. Brick-or-Treat’s last days are October 25th and 26th, with the Party Nights beginning at 5pm and ending with Fireworks at 9pm. Bring your kids in their costumes to party and trick-or-treat through Legoland. Click here to purchase your tickets now to save time at entrance.
San Diego Botanic Garden
Come check out the Family Fall Festival at the San Diego Botanic Garden this Saturday October 25th. The Festival is included with admission to the Botanic Garden. There is FREE entrance to the Garden and Festival for children 12 and under (they also are allowed FREE entrance to the Garden all the rest of Ocotber as a part of Kidvasion San Diego). The Festival will feature a petting zoo, crafts, hay wagon rides, costume parade, live entertainment, pumpkin carving and much more. The Garden already has two great children’s areas and is just a gorgeous place to take a day out to.
Riverside Fall Safety Fair
The Riverside Police Department is hosting a Fall Safety Fair this Saturday October 25th from 10am to 2pm in the Sam’s Club parking lot. The first 50 families will receive a FREE pumpkin. There will be carnival games, booths and demonstrations on safety from many local emergency response departments. Raceway Ford will also be conducting FREE test drives on a special closed course. For each test drive Raceway Ford will donate $20 to the Riverside Police Foundation.
Downtown Ghost Walk
The annual Ghost Walk returns to Riverside this weekend presented by California Riverside Ballet. This is a fun event for the whole family there is a cost of $15 per ticket for specialized ghost tours. There is six spooktacular tour options to choose from. Enjoy live music and entertainment, kids carnival games, food vendors and spooky souvenir stands. The fun starts Friday the 24th at 6pm and goes on until 10pm. Or check out the haunting fun on Saturday the 25th from 6pm to 11pm.
The Orange Empire Railway Museum great fall tradition is returning this weekend! Come to the station and take a special ride on a trolley to the pumpkin patch where kids can pick and decorate their own pumpkin. In addition to the trolley ride there will be a bounce house, games, bubble wands, train decorating, storytelling and other child-sized train rides. Come dressed up in your costumes and enter the costume contest! The Pumpkin Train is in the station October 25th and 26th. Tickets range from $7-$18 and the trains and trolleys run from 10am to 4pm.
Temecula Greek Festival
Come celebrate Greece this weekend in Old Town Temecula at the Greek Festival. The Festival is on Saturday the 25th from 10am to 9pm and again on Sunday the 26th from 11am to 8pm. Admission is only $2 and children ages 12 and under are FREE! Enjoy live Greek music, authentic foods and drinks and there will be a special children’s game area. Plus a FREE door prize drawings.
