It’s Halloween time at Legoland California! And on weekends the fun gets extra special with Brick-or-Treat and it’s Party Nights. Enjoy special trick-or-treating throughout Legoland and Sea Life Aquarium that is filled with some great treats and entertainment. You have the option to play all day in the park then join the spooky fun at night or just arrive for the night time haunts. Brick-or-Treat is only happening on select Fridays and Saturdays this October.

image

Brick-or-Treat Party Nights There are still dates left to check out Brick-or-Treat! Fridays October 17th and 24th and also Saturdays October 18th and 25th. An all day pass is for admission to the park and Aquarium from 10am until 9pm. Nights only is from 5pm until 9pm. So how is Brick-or-Treat?

My family just checked out Brick-or-Treat’s Party Night this last weekend. Overall we had a great time. The kids said they want to do it again next year. We did the Party Nights portion only. We arrived at about 4:30pm and from the parking lot we could tell the park was going to be a bit full. I was surprised that there was no real line at the entrance which was nice but the tent to get your Party Nights wristband was fairly long. Right after we got our wrists bands on we were ready to go and the kids could not wait to begin the fun. Our first stop was the Aquarium since it was the nearest Treat Stations.

image

What’s great about the Sea Life Aquarium is you are let in through mid-size groups so it’s not too crowded. We enjoyed walking through but since we have already visited here quite a few times the kids were excited to rush to the first Treat Station. On the way we stopped and got a good look at the new Jellyfish Discovery.

imageimage

The kids really enjoyed Jellyfish Discovery. The glow in the dark style room is always fun and so was watching the tanks lights change the colors of the Jellyfish.

imageimage

Our very first Treat Station was a Pirate Ship with a friendly Buccaneer!

image

Loved seeing the little details of decorations throughout the Aquarium.

imageimage

There was no wait for the Treat Stations inside Sea Life for us.

image

A dance party area where kids could learn some fun fishy moves. The dance area got really busy as the night went on when all the flashing lights could be seen.

image

We had fun in the Aquarium but we were so ready to check out all the rest of the Treat Stations.

image

This little Spider-Man family was ready to have fun! So half the park is closed for the Party Nights which did make me a little bummed because almost all of my sons favorite rides where on the closed side of the park. What was nice though was that all the Treat Stations were so easy to spot. But the lines for them were incredibly long. Some of the lines were so long that a Legoland worker was standing at the end holding a sign to signify the end of that line. Since the lines for the Treat Stations were so long it left many of the rides lines pretty short.

image

There were some fun stilt walkers and performers keeping guest entertained throughout the trails. There are also some great photo opportunities throughout the trails.

image

I really loved how decorated the park is. It is not overly done and really fits in. Some of the displays are very interactive like the Fortune Teller Booth with a real Fortune Teller inside and a friendly troll who was telling some fun jokes and talking with the kids about their costumes.

image

imageimage

Had to get a pic of my Spider kids in front of a web too bad my little guy was more interested in his treats than taking a pic.

Had to get a pic of my Spider kids in front of a web too bad my little guy was more interested in his treats than taking a pic.

Three of the Treat Stations were located in the Enchanted Walk so there was only one line to wait in to get into the Walk. From there visiting those three stations was a breeze since only a certain amount of guests were allowed to enter at a time to not make the trail crowded. There where also three located in Mini Land and they were easy to go from line to line. What was nice is you could have an adult wait in line while taking the kids to check out all of Mini Land or watch a show on the main stage that was very close by. I have to say I was so happy to see some very healthy treats being given out, there was a few stations who had some candy, but the majority of treats were healthy snacks and organic juice. Of course what would a Brick-or-Treat be without some Bricks. There are two stations who hand out bricks; one is a fun commemorative single brick and the other is a Legends of Chima Lego Set. You can bet that station was the longest line there. There was a few other stages besides the main stage and there was also another dance party area that was really hoping. Even though dealing with long Treat Station lines we still had a really good time. The park was very crowded which was a bummer since half the park is closed so all the crowds are in one area. But overall anyone thinking of going to this event I would say to still check it out.

image

There are two large stages and a few smaller stages throughout Brick-or-Treat. The main stage is in MiniLand which is where the costume contests are held. The other large stage is right next to the Dragon Coaster exit. Both large stages have singing and dancing performances and other fun acts. The smaller acts throughout the park include a great drum performer and an amazing painter.

image

On the way to Castle Hill is a fun little light show near the giant Lego Spider. The path is decorated and the lights dance to the music playing.

image

Don’t miss the giant Lego Lord Vampyer near the main stage. He and his ghoulish friends have a Monster Mash of a show on the main stage. Guest got to help assemble this giant Lego figure on the first night of Brick-or-Treat, how cool is that!

Brick-or-Treat Tips

So since every experience is a learning opportunity I wanted to share some tips and advice to help anyone going to attend Brick-or-Treat have a great time.

    • Do an All Day Pass – I have told my spouse that next year we will just do the All Day Pass. There are 4 Treat Stations open all day so that would ease up time during Party Nights having already completed those. Also the whole park is open so we would be able to enjoy all the rides, especially my sons favorites.
    • Arrive Early – If you plan on only doing the Party Nights tickets then take advantage and arrive early at the 4pm entrance that is allowed with tickets purchased online. By arriving early you can get in the front of the lines for some of the longer wait Treat Stations. Also you do not have to get your Brick-or-Treat at the front of the park wristband station. There is a few other locations for them further in the park with much shorter lines.
    • Bring an Extra Adult – If you were just planning on one adult taking the kids it would be beneficial to have two parents at least go. One parent could take the kids to do rides or watch the shows, while the other parent would do the wait in lines and just call when they get near to the front. This will help save on fussy line waiting kiddos.
    • Mid-size or Large Treat Bag – Bring a medium or large sized Trick-or-Treat bag. Some of the treats such as the Lego set and Magazine will not fit well in a small treat bag or bucket. This will save you on trying to carry all your treat items especially if you do not have a stroller to place them in.
    • Bring some snacks – I underestimated how much line waiting and Brick-or-Treating would make me hungry. We had a brought food for my son who has FPIES, but didn’t pack much for ourselves. Guess we thought that the Party Nights wasn’t a long amount of time. Well we got pretty hungry and ended up leaving before the Fireworks to go get a bite to eat. Even though the snacks given out were healthy they weren’t allergy safe for anyone with a dairy allergy or sensitivity.
    • Get seating early – With how many people who attend Party Nights, if you want to get a good view of a show grab a seat early. Click here to plan your trip now with the event map and show times.
    • Bring a Pen/Pencil– The Boat Cruise is now a Ghost Cruise with a special scavenger hunt in it. You are given a scavenger hunt paper when you enter the ride but pencils are not provided and are only at the raffle drop box. So to save on time after the ride and to make things easier to remember bring a pen/pencil with you. Also the winner of the scavenger hunt wins park hopper tickets and a special prize pack, definitely enter this contest!
