We ended up picking a story from the reading list that my little one really enjoyed! The free books ranged from board books to chapter books.

How it works

  • Pick up a list in store or print one from online (click here for list)
  • Either have your child read or read to your child 8 of the recommended books from the list.
  • Turn in your completed list into your local store and your child receives a free book!
  • No purchase is necessary to participate.

Be sure sure to also stop by Story Time on Tuesdays at 11am. Take a break from the summer heat and enjoy a good story. Check out some of the other programs that I have blogged about here that are still going on for a bit more.

Summer Reading

A great way for kids to not fall behind over summer break is to take part in a summer reading program. So many places are offering their own programs with great rewards. For quite a few summers now my children have participated in our library’s summer reading. They love checking in weekly and collecting little prizes and spinning the wheel to win some great coupons for free food at local eateries. Be sure to also check out the story time events as well, it’s always fun to relax and listen to a story. I’ll keep an eye out for more reading programs but here are some to get started with.

Dive into reading this summer!

Barnes and Noble
Barnes and Noble offers a nice little reading program. How it works is after your child has read 8 books and logged them in their Reading Journal, found on barnesandnoble.com, they bring in their Journal to a local store and receive a free book!
