Legoland Star Wars Days 2017

LEGO® Star Wars™ Weekend at Legoland is back!

I know I have some padawans that are pretty excited about this news. I hadn’t seen Star Wars™ Days on the upcoming events schedule at Legoland California, when I was checking out all of this years planned fun a couple months ago. Seeing the announcement that Star Wars™ Days was returning was a very pleasant surprise.

What is Star Wars Days?

Well its just like it sounds, it’s a weekend full of Star Wars themed fun from special builds to costume contests, photo ops and more. It’s two days dedicated to all things LEGO® Star Wars™. All of which is enhanced by the Miniland Star Wars™ expansions. The LEGO® Death Star was added in 2015 and just recently the Star Wars™ area expanded with new scenes from The Force Awakens; like Rey, Finn, and BB-8’s escape from Niima Outpost and Kylo Ren’s capture of Poe at planet Jakku. There is also the new LEGO® model Star Destroyer Finalizer which is the longest Star Wars™ Miniland model at 16-feet long!

What to Expect

LEGO® Star Wars™ are June 3rd and 4th, the fun is included with general admission to the park. Enjoy seeing lots and I mean lots of members of the 501st Legion members whose costumes are LucasFilm approved and are amazing and perfect for photo ops. Feel free to dress up as well, there is a costume contest for children up to 12 years old. This is really a fun event to see as well, some of the costumes are so creative. Take part in a Miniland Scavenger Hunt, a Droid Hunt (through the 501st legion), trivia, giveaways, and enjoy WB Games Family GameSpace featuring LEGO® Star Wars™ Video Games. And of course enjoy everything else the park has to offer. This is a can’t miss event!

May the force be with you and be sure to check out LEGO® Star Wars™ Days at Legoland California!

Star Wars The Last Jedi First Teaser and Poster!

Images courtesy of Lucas films and Disney

Breathe… just breathe…

I’m not freaking out, you’re freaking out! Ok that’s a total lie I am freaking out! The first poster and teaser trailer for Star Wars Episode VIII is here and it is AMAZING!
The next film in the Star Wars saga’s name was revealed in January which led to a lot of speculation and now this first look is only adding to it.

Currently Star Wars Celebration is taking place in Orlando, Florida. And like many I am watching from the sidelines wishing that I was there. I attended the Celebration back in 2015 when it was here in California, in Anaheim. It was a truly memorable experience and I can’t wait to go again (too bad we have to wait until 2019 for the next one). At Celebration a lot of inside information is given during panels about upcoming films, projects, tv shows and more. So it’s no surprise that during this years that a teaser for Star Wars Episode VIII The Last Jedi was released since the film is set to hit theaters this December.

The teaser trailer starts with Rey who looks to be in the middle of her Jedi training. Just from this start you get the sense that this film is going to be much more intense. The rest of the teaser is nothing less than suspenseful. We see Finn in some type of chamber, Poe and BB-8 rushing to a ship, Rey training with Luke and (could it be) more of the Knights of Ren and why Luke disappeared!

“I only know one truth…it’s time for the Jedi to end”

This voice over by Luke is seriously chilling and I am already racking my brain for the meaning behind it.

Trying not to give away all the details so check out the teaser trailer for yourself below!

Hour of Code Week

It’s Computer Science Education Week! Let’s get coding!

This week, December 7th to December 13th, is Computer Science Education week. This is a great time to get kids involved in STEM learning and coding. STEM is Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. These are fast growing career fields and are an important part of a well rounded education. *This may also be called STEAM, which is when Arts are included. Arts are none the less important for young learners, but for this week I’m shining the light more on computer science based STEM.*

What is Coding? Well coding is basically the tool to communicate your ideas with a computer or program to bring them to life. Technology is a big part of everyday life now, so learning to code even just having a basic understanding can help in so many ways. And just with anything it’s great to start learning you so you can build and retain the information.

So to celebrate this week lets get coding! Hour of Code is a Global event that is a great introduction to coding and computer science. Check out tutorials and ways to get coding on From here you can see events and coding happening in your area and all around the World.

Great Sites for kids

Some great sites for kids to learn and explore coding are and

Code is making coding fun and out of this world with a new Star Wars themed activity. Join the fierce leading ladies of the Star Wars Universe build a galaxy. This game is recomended for children ages 6-106 years. And is accessible on smartphones, tablets and most browsers.

Made with Code

I’ve shared this awesome site before but Made with Code is a great site for all coding learners. There is activities for all levels, resources and information on events and classes in your community. Though the site is geared towards girls there’s no real rule that excludes boys from using it. The reason Made with Code is geared towards girls is because less than 1% of girls study computer science and Made with Code is aiming to change that. It is creating ways for girls to gain interest and take advantage of the growing field.

STEM is much more than just a week long event. The sites above can be visited anytime, the fun and learning can continue even after this week is done. So get to coding!

Star Wars The Force Awakens New International Trailer

Image courtesy of Walt Disney Studios and Lucas Films

There is a brand new trailer for Star Wars The Force Awakens that just came out from Japan. This one has even more revealing details than the much anticipated full US trailer. And we cannot get enough of both! So just to give fair warning this post my contain possible spoiler details about the new film so *Spoiler Alert*

Still from the new Japanese released Force Awakens trailer

Still from the new Japanese released Force Awakens trailer

The new trailer shows much more of a focus on the characters of BB-8 and Rey(Daisy Ridley). The trailer starts off very similar to the US version with Lupita Nyong’o’s voice over but from there is when the differences begin. It shows what looks like a first meeting between Rey and BB-8, where Daisy Ridley’s voice over states: “I know all about waiting…for my family”. That right there is revealing enough! So one can only begin to speculate who she is referencing. We are then shown Finn(John Boyega) and Rey teaming up and several images from the US trailer. But in a blink and you’ll miss it fashion we are shown what looks like a Rebel command center with C3-PO, Poe Dameron(Oscar Isaac) and Princess Leia(Carrie Fisher) looking pretty dismayed. Then an array of new images including the suspenseful one of Rey facing Kylo Rens saber blade. The trailer then concludes with Lupita’s voice over; “Hope is not lost today, it is found”. And it most definitely is!

One key point that still has not been addressed in this new look is Luke Skywalker(Mark Hamill). He is still absent from this trailer which only builds more mystery and speculation as to his part in the film. Guess we just have to wait until December 18th to find out.

There is less than two months left until this highly anticipated movies debut. Don’t forget to get your tickets now and also check out the marathons and other events going on by clicking here. And be sure to check out the revealing new trailer below, enjoy!

Star Wars: The Force Awakens Exclusive Look

Here it is the much anticipated exclusive look for Star Wars: The Force Awakens!

So much excitement these past two days for Star Wars Fans with the release of the new official poster and the start of ticket sales. (I hope everyone was able to get theirs as a lot of the sites were down due to heavy traffic from Star Wars fanatics.) If you haven’t purchased your tickets just yet check out these awesome marathons and events I spoke about earlier. But let’s get back to the most exciting release, the new trailer!

I cannot contain how ecstatic I am about this new trailer. It is beyond amazing! So much is revealed in it. You see more depth of each character and it just builds more questions for the film. The best part was seeing Kylo Ren kneeling and talking about finishing something which then flashes to the dilapidated helmet of Darth Vader. The CGI is not over done and the film definitely has the feel and heart of the originals. December 18th (or 17th for some) cannot come soon enough. View the trailer for yourself below, enjoy.
